Cruise specialist cruise.co.uk has already uncovered insights on the rise of short sailings and guests considering ditching life on land for life on board. The next in its series of insights shines a light on the natural wonders that top cruisers' wish lists.
Unsurprisingly, the Northern Lights topped the list of natural wonders that cruise.co.uk's 900 survey responders are craving a cruise to catch. Perhaps fuelled by FOMO after the phenomenon appeared above UK skies in May and the fact that many of the best vantage points are reserved for those at sea, over a third of respondents put it at the top of their bucket lists.
Cruise.co.uk's managing director, Tony Andrews, emphasised, "The incredible Northern Lights clearly hold a special allure, and are accessible via a range of destinations and cruise lines, as are a wealth of other bucket list destinations and experiences."
Only coming second by a narrow margin is the desire to see whales and marine wildlife. The international appeal, with ethical and safe vantage points all the way from Alaska to Antarctica to Australia, puts it top for 29% of guests.
Exploring coral reefs was the third most popular option, with 15% of guests keen to observe the ecosystems from a cruise.
Tony continued, "Cruises are a highly attractive option for travellers looking to experience natural phenomena across the globe."
85% of those surveyed suggested a cruise was their preferred way of catching sight of a natural wonder, and 58% said they were likely or very likely to book a cruise specifically to witness one.
