New ibis hotel opens in Bridgwater

Accor has opened a new ibis hotel in Bridgwater in the South West of England, initially open for restricted use in with government legislation, ahead of a full opening in May.

ibis Bridgwater is the UK’s first full PLAZA design concept; a new contemporary and urban interior design concept. The hotel is also the first ibis in the UK to feature a Keepers Kitchen and Bar. As part of the new design concept, ibis Bridgwater has a mix of 144 double, twin and interconnecting rooms available, meaning the hotel can cater for all types of travellers.

For those looking for a lively spot to eat, the modern Keepers Kitchen and Bar, will open at ibis Bridgwater. Keepers is an all-day dining restaurant and bar offering British and international classics across its locally-sourced menus, plus a selection of Keeper's specials with signature house honey. In addition, ibis Bridgwater offer two meetings rooms, making it a convenient set up for business travellers.

With local hotspots including Cheddar Gorge, Burnham on Sea and Wookey Hole Caves, the hotel makes the ideal base to explore the area’s natural attractions. From the idyllic Quantock Hills to the seaside towns along the Somerset coastline, the hotel is a great place to start and end any staycation holiday in the South West once travel restrictions ease. It is situated at about one minute from Junction 23 of the M5 and less than 13 miles from Hinkley Point Power Station.

Jonathan Bowen, general manager of ibis Bridgwater, said: “We are pleased to open our doors as part of the global ibis brand family and to be bringing the number one economy brand in Europe to Somerset. As travel restrictions ease, we look forward to welcoming guests and to capitalise on our great location at the gateway to the South West of England. While lockdown restrictions remain in place we stand open to accommodate key workers and those with essential travel needs in line with government legislation.”

“We are also delighted to be introducing a fresh new dining option to the area through our Keepers Bar & Kitchen, and to be able to champion the region’s incredible local food and drink across our vibrant menus.”
