Efteling on track to open family-friendly roller coaster next month

Efteling, the fairytale theme park in the Netherlands, is set to open the new Max & Moritz family roller coaster next month.

The last two track sections to the dual-tracked family rollercoaster have been added after attaching nearly 5,000 nuts and bolts. It will offer families with children a controlled thrillseeker experience with the ride based on Max & Moritz, which is a German illustrated story of two naughty boys who live in a village with their mother and enjoy annoying villagers with mischievous tricks.

Two tracks of 300 metres each can now be seen and the final stage of the work involves the installation of the Alpine landscape and then the installation of the trains.

The ride has been constructed with sustainability in mind - it will be heated without using gas, sustainable wood has been used and when the trains slow down, the energy released will be fed back into the electricity grid to drive the coaster.

This summer, Frau Boltes K?che is also set to open, a restaurant which will be attached to the ride, serving a range of chicken dishes, fries and snacks.
