Belize Tourism Board launches the Garifuna Trail

Teaming up with the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations to launch the community-focused project, celebrating the renowned culture of the Garifuna people.

The Garifuna Trail has been developed the highlight the culture and heritage of the afro-descendent indigenous Garifuna peoples. The trail brings together the country's most culturally and geographically diverse melting pot, home to an array of Garifuna-owned enterprises, products and services.

Along the trail, guests can explore first-hand the Garifuna culture in the Dangriga and Hopkins communities, bringing together art, music, dance, history and culinary experiences.

Evan Tillet, Director of Tourism, Belize Tourism Board said; ?The new Garifuna Trail offers travellers a unique opportunity to experience authentic indigenous community, culture, and cuisine. Created to focus on sustainable tourism development in the area, the new tourism cluster will highlight and share the authentic indigenous culture in Dangriga and Hopkins's Garifuna communities.

"Through the economic growth driven by exposure to indigenous culinary and experiential community based cultural tourism products, it is expected that the cluster will indirectly benefit the 11,100 people within the Dangriga and Hopkins communities.?
