Eurostar's new services from London to Frankfurt and Geneva will begin operating from the early 2030s, with up to 50 new trains, worth almost £1.7 billion, joining the fleet
Gwendoline Cazenave, the train company's CEO, said, "Despite the challenging economic climate, Eurostar is growing and has bold ambitions for the future. Our new fleet will make new destinations for customers a reality – notably direct trains between London and Germany, and between London and Switzerland for the first time.
"A new golden age of international sustainable travel is here."
Ahead of the new services, Eurostar has confirmed a fourth and fifth daily service to Amsterdam (via Rotterdam) will operate from September and December, respectively, after the reinstatement of the service in February of this year.
Up to 50 new trains will join the fleet, complementing the 17 894-passenger e320 currently in operation.
Heidi Alexander, the government's transport secretary, said the announcement "shows that the government’s plan for change is rapidly strengthening the links between major cities in counties across Europe, creating more opportunities to travel, work, and socialise."
Agents can win a luxury journey to Amsterdam courtesy of Eurostar in our ongoing competition.
