WTM Virtual: Beyond Bali! Five top destinations to try in Indonesia

The Indonesian Tourist Board is focusing on five, new bucket-list destinations to reintroduce travellers to the island nation when it reopens next year.

While the country remains closed to international tourism, this latest announcement came during the World Travel Market conference in London.

Their strategy for 2021 is to encourage travellers to go beyond Bali, made famous for featuring in the 2010 film Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts.

Their ?super priority? destinations are Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in central Java, Mandalika on Lombok island, Labuan Bajo on Flores - famous for its Komodo dragons - and Likupang on Sulawesi.

Their travel representative in the UK said that before the islands reopen, the Indonesian government is putting in every precaution in place to ensure safe international travel across its expansive territory.

When the country reopens, a negative COVID-19 test will be required.
