Tobago Tourism Agency unveiled significant investment plans in accommodation on the island at WTM 2022.
Construction is set to start next year on TT$500 million four-star Marriott hotel, which is expected to be completed by 2025. The project will comprise of a 200-room hotel, 28 duplex residences, 11 single-family luxury villas, 12 town houses and a full-scale of luxury amenities. The project will bring both short and long-term benefits to the island, with the creation of 750 jobs during the construction phase and 220 jobs once the hotel opens.
The resort will also create a farmers programme where the hotel will work with farmers in Tobago to improve production and service.
The TT$320 million Elephant Tree Beach Club and Villas is due to be completed in 2024 and will feature a 40-room hotel, a fitness centre, two restaurants, a spa, a swimming pool and a jetty on the beachfront. There will be 126 townhouses and villas forming part of the development.
This dive resort of Manta Lodge located in Speyside Tobago is undergoing a TT$10 million refurbishment, due to be completed at the end of this year, adding an additional 24 rooms to Tobago’s hotel stock.
The 74-room Comfort Inn Suites Tobago also recently opened its doors earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the ongoing ANR Robinson International Airport Expansio project will see the construction of a new terminal, expansion of the tarmac and a new car park, among other upgrades.
