At this years WTM, Raki Phillips, CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Development Authority, talked about how sustainability remains integral to Ras Al Khaimahs tourism strategy.
"The UK market has grown a total of 230% year-on-year, and I want to tell you a little bit about our vision and how our tourism model now works."
On the importance of eco-fuelled experiences, Phillips explained: "Sustainability is now key to our success - research has shown 83% of travellers look for this when booking holidays. For us, sustainability is not just a buzzword, it is integral to our strategy - this is why we launched our 'Balanced Tourism' concept.
"Through this campaign, we've partnered with a company called Earth Check, who help us put together our sustainability goals - we plan to be the first certified sustainable destination in the region by the end of next year. We have a total of 17 sustainability goals and 30 corporate companies have signed the pledge. We We are also putting in £120 million into attractions with a purpose."
