Wendy Wu Tours heads back to China after three-year hiatus

The luxury escorted-tour company has confirmed the first group tour to China on May 21, 2023, following a three-year hiatus.

Following close consultation with the Chinese government – who has lifted the embargo on issuing UK tourist visas – and the China National Tourism Association, Wendy Wu Tours has been given the green light to take the first official group into the country, cementing itself as the first travel company to do so since the Covid-19 pandemic initially began.

The departure will be honoured by the company’s flagship tour, the 16-day ‘Wonders of China’ itinerary, and with demand at an all-time high, the tour looks to sell out in record time.

Speaking on the historic moment, founder Wendy Wu said: “Our customers will be the first to visit China, as part of an organised tour group, and to experience the magic of the ‘new’ China at its best. Having just reopened to tourism, now is the perfect time to travel and experience this spectacular country.

“It will be a monumental and historic tour, and the opportunity of a lifetime to be among the first UK tourists back in China, after nearly three years.”

To celebrate the county’s reopening, the May departure of the fully-inclusive ‘Wonders of China’ tour will include a ‘Partner Flies Free’ discount when booked before April 24, 2023, with prices at £3,540 per person. Additionally, the discount has been extended to other selected group tours, as well as to the new private China tours departing through 2023 and 2024.
