Solar sell-out: Windstar announces second eclipse sailing

After the sold-out success of the line's first eclipse cruise in Iceland, a second eclipse cruise aboard Wind Spirit will take guests around the Mediterranean to witness the spectacular phenomenon at sunset

Setting sail from Rome on August 6th, 2026, the seven-night ‘Mediterranean Sunset Eclipse’ cruise will visit Bastia, Calvi, Alghero and Mahon. On August 12th, the yacht will position itself north of Mallorca to be in the perfect spot to look out into the horizon and watch the eclipse.

Guests will enjoy a deck party to commemorate the experience before the journey comes to end on August 13th in Barcelona. Prices lead in from £4,568 per person.

Jess Peterson, Windstar’s director of destination experiences and itinerary planning, said, “Eclipse cruises are popular because ships at sea can position for clear views. Our first cruise to coincide with the 2026 eclipse in Iceland sold out quickly. We then looked at our deployment plans to see what other ships we had nearby the path of totality and the Wind Spirit made sense.”

The 2026 solar eclipse path of totality will pass over Spain and Portugal and will last for two minutes and 18 seconds. From Mallorca, the sun will only be a few degrees above the horizon line at 8:30pm when the moon will fully cover the sun.
