VisitPITTSBURGH launches agent training programme

The destination body has teamed up with Pittsburgh International Airport for its first-ever training programme for UK agents.

With British Airways set to relaunch its direct route from London Heathrow on June 3, 2022, agents can seize the opportunity to learn all there is to know about Pittsburgh, the new training programme equips agents with the knowledge to sell Pittsburgh to multi-generational families, city breakers, and everyone in between.

In celebration of the launch, agents can earn exclusive incentives by completing the first module by May 10, 2022. All those who do will be entered into a prize draw to win one of five places on a VisitPITTSBURGH group fam trip, departing with British Airways on June 3, 2022. The fam trip will include 'Only in Pittsburgh' experiences such as visiting the Andy Warhol Museum and getting a taste of the city on the 'Burgh Bits & Bites' food tour.

The platform is hosted by Mogul, an e-learning provider, and comprises three modules on an introduction to Pittsburgh, 'Only in Pittsburgh' experiences, and city tours. Each of the modules has six lessons and a short quiz to put the knowledge to the test. Those who complete all the modules are crowned a Pittsburgh Pro and earn a certificate.

Jerad Bachar, CEO at VisitPITTSBURGH, commented: “We’re thrilled to be launching our first ever travel agent training programme at such a critical time. The UK and Ireland market is hugely important to us and the return of the British Airways direct flight from London Heathrow only serves to showcase Pittsburgh as an accessible, attractive destination for travellers. Pittsburgh is a city that has it all and we’re excited for our Pittsburgh Pros to learn about what makes our city so special.”
