Top destinations for culinary-crazy cruise clients revealed

Luxury cruise specialist Panache Cruises has explored the busiest cruise ports across the globe, revealing which has the most prestigious Michelin-star restaurants and might make the best bet for foodies looking to hit the seven seas.

The insights reveal which cruise ports guarantee the finest level of dining options.

Barcelona tops the list for fine dining; over 2.3 million passengers travelled through the port last year and 76 Michelin-star dining outlets awaited them on shore.

Genoa & Savona came in second, welcoming more than 1.5 million cruise guests last year and boasting 20 Michelin-star offerings.

Nassau came in third (3.2 million passengers, 14 Michelin-star eateries), followed by Palma de Malloca (1.7 million passengers to 12 Michelin-star options), and Port Miami (over 4 million cruise guests with 11 Michelin-star picks to choose from).

James Cole, the cruise line's founder and managing director, explained: "Cruising allows holidaymakers to visit numerous destinations in one holiday, giving them the chance to wake up in a new place with different food cultures, every morning.

"Some of the busiest cruise ports in the world are just a stone's throw from the most prestigious fine dining spots in the world, so foodies should definitely take advantage.

"Given the excellent restaurants that can be found on cruise ships, it is often tempting to return to the ship for lunch when in port. But by doing so, many people miss out on some fantastic local culinary experiences."
