Three years on from the collapse of parent company Specialist Leisure Group, the new operator of Caledonian Travel and UKBreakaways welcomed its one-millionth customer last week
Pam Renwick, the lucky one-millionth, earned a £500 gift voucher as she booked her next break at Caledonian's Travel Centre in Middlesbrough. She said, "It feels amazing, unbelievable actually! We didn’t think it’d be us. We’ve booked a few holidays with Caledonian Travel before, we’ve done Blackpool, Torquay, Liverpool…we like Torquay, and that’s where we might spend our one millionth customer voucher!"
The first 50 bookings made at each of the seven branches last week included limited-edition 'One in a Million' branded t-shirts.
Graham Rogers, Caledonian's managing director, said, "Reaching one million customers in just over three years is another key milestone for our business. I’d like to congratulate our lucky winners and thank every holidaymaker who has travelled with us during this time as well as our dedicated team and network of trade partners who have all played a significant role in our success.
"This summer we’ve experienced record-breaking sales, surpassing our daily sales records multiple times, with many customers making repeat bookings."
2023 saw the group register £55 million turnover, up 37% against 2022. Recent acquisitions of Glasgow-based competitors Tartan Travel and hotels in some of its best-selling UK holiday resorts (now Caledonian-branded) are expected to bolster another year of growth.
