The average cruise passenger age has dropped by 11 years

Cruise.co.uk has found that, since 2019, the average age of cruise guests has dropped by over a decade

Analysing 500,000 passengers, the cruise specialist found that the current average age of cruise bookers is 55. In 2019, the average sat at around 66 years, representing a drop of 11 years.

The cruise specialist has suggested that the drop is in part due to the growing popularity of cruises for multi-generational holidays and the industry's growing appeal to younger guests.

Cruise.co.uk's online-only sister provider, Seascanner, has seen a decrease of around three years, from an average booker age of 45 in 2022 to around 42 in 2024.

Tony Andrews, Cruise.co.uk's managing director, said the report is "clear evidence of cruise’s growing appeal to a wider audience. As new ships and itineraries emerge, passengers of all ages are discovering that a holiday at sea offers a host of one-of-a-kind experiences, both onboard and ashore, with activities designed to appeal to all tastes.

"When coupled with unbeatable value for money, it really does make cruise the go-to getaway for more people than ever before."
