Thailand invites Brits to stay longer with visa exemption extension

The previous 60-day visa exemption has been extended to 90 days, with a new Destination Thailand Visa on offer for digital nomads.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand's London office director, Ms. Sadudee Sangnil, hopes the extension to UK visitors' visa exemption period will "provide an opportunity for visitors to travel at a more leisurely pace and see and experience more."

Sangnil also noted that the change "is a great sales opportunity for agents, to sell longer trips filled with more experiences and tours."

A new visa initiative, the Destination Thailand Visa, offers remote workers and digital nomads the chance to stay for multiple periods up to 180 days across five years.

Continuing, the London office director added, "Remote working and freelance lifestyle is increasing, but so is the cost of living in the UK. Thailand offers a warm, welcoming and affordable place to live and work. With the DTV visa being valid for the holder's spouse and children too, it opens up the opportunity for family travel bookings."

The DTV costs around £222 per application.
