Anticipation for the winter holiday season is building and Finnair’s bumper schedule to Lapland and Northern Norway will bring the festive joy to any traveller.
Demand for travel to the Nordic nations continues to rise among travellers who wish to seek Santa and embark on an Arctic adventure to remember.
Finnair will offer up to 63 flights per week between Helsinki and Rovaniemi – Santa’s 'official' stomping ground – which marks a 26% increase compared to last winter. The popular polar route between Rovaniemi and Tromsø – otherwise known as the gateway to the Northern Lights – will increase from twice to six times per week.
International customers will benefit from the increased service, being able to fly into Helsinki while having the option to add stopovers in the Arctic’s famous cities. Finnair is currently the only airline to offer this Arctic Circle connection.
Customers heading to Rovaniemi can now choose from flights departing as frequently as every half an hour during peak periods, allowing the airline to offer a unique ‘Santa shuffle’ service.
Anssi Partanen, Finnair market director Europe, stated that holidays to the Nordics have proven “more popular than ever, especially among the British and Irish travellers” which led to the decision to add more flights to Lapland and Northern Norway to give “customers increased connections to their favourite winter hotspots.”
