Putting the finger to the Pulse at WTM 2023

Pulse Hotels & Resorts have positioned themselves as the Maldives envelope-pusher with four properties since 2017 modernising the Maldivian model.

COO Althaf Mohamed Ali sat down at World Travel Market to dissect the Pulse approach and emphasise the brand's trade support.

"Right from the outset in 2017, we've always looked at the kinds of differences that we can make in terms of changing, challenging the stereotype," Ali explained. Kandima_Aug2017_1025.jpg

Reflecting on the traditional image of the Maldives, he explained, "It's traditionally expected to be very one-dimensional: the sun and the sea."

Pulse Hotels responded by introducing Kandima, a lifestyle destination that caters for different expectations.

"So no matter which type of traveler typology you belong to—family, couples, honeymooners, a group of friends, or a solo traveler—you will still find something that is relevant to you."

Emphasising the importance of preserving the natural environment, they deliberately limited development on the 3.1-kilometer-long island to 207 keys, maintaining the tropical allure of the destination.

Ali shared Pulse Hotels' venture into the ultra-luxury space with The Nautilus in 2019. Recognizing the need for personal freedom for ultra-high-net-worth travelers, Ali said: "We are going to give you a product where you check in, and you will be first thing we completely eliminate the sense of time. Every service at The Nautilus is timeless."

Nova, labeled as "your soulful place," focuses on reconnecting with one's soul and fostering a sense of community. The introduction of community tables in the all-day dining restaurant has become a phenomenon, creating unexpected friendships among guests.

Reflecting on Pulse Hotels' core proposition, Ali said: "For us, we've always kept partnerships as a core business proposition. It's all about long-term sustainable growth." Pulse Hotels fosters enduring partnerships, supporting trade partners in various initiatives, including education, training, and marketing campaigns.

Additionally, Pulse Hotels has invested in connectivity to reduce timelines for trade bookings, providing real-time access to inventory.
