Palladium Hotel Group responds to Spanish quarantine announcement

Palladium Hotel Group, which has properties across Ibiza, Malaga and Menorca, has released an official statement in response to the UK government?s announcement, about including the whole of Spain in its list of travel-restricted countries.

Sergio Zertuche, chief sales and marketing officer at Palladium Hotel Group commented, ?We were hopeful that visitors returning from the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands would be excluded from the mandatory quarantine, so we are surprised and disappointed that the FCO?s advice against all but essential travel has been updated to include the whole of Spain. This will have a detrimental impact on Spanish tourism and the hotel sector. It seems rather unnecessary, given the status of the pandemic on the islands, where the epidemiological situation is still under control.?

"The UK is a huge source market for us and we have a range of four star and five star hotels in Ibiza; as well as the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife in the Canary Islands and Palladium Hotel Costa del Sol close to Malaga. In the past few months, Palladium Hotel Group has invested a great deal of resources to enable reopening of its properties across the islands and the peninsula, as well as keep everyone associated with the hotel, safe and healthy, with all the required measures of social distancing in place," Mr Zertuche said. "In addition, they are offering free medical assistance insurance to cover for any pandemic related emergencies, for every guest staying with them, all across Spain. ?We have created this insurance, along with our new health and safety protocols, with guidance from industry-leaders, to give our guests the utmost confidence in booking holidays with the Palladium Hotel Group.?

?We would urge the UK government to reconsider this advice on a regional basis to support the sector as we are also supporting our UK travel partners to the best of our ability during this challenging time," he suggested.
