Newmarket's latest tour uncovers a hidden gem of Central Asia

The 11-day escorted tour takes guests on a journey off the tourist trail, following the Silk Road through Uzbekistan and showcasing the region’s colourful history and modern-day marvels.

Uzbekistan – Ancient Cities of the Silk Road’ begins in the capital of Tashkent, taking in the atmosphere of Chorsu Bazaar before moving onto the Khiva where guest will explore the ancient citadel of Kala and the suspended Duma Mosque.

The journey continues through the red deserts of the famous traders’ route before arriving in the Silk Road capital of Samarkand where travellers will have the chance to explore the birthplace of the legendary leader of the Timurid empire, Amir Timur.

Richard Forde, head of trade sales and partnerships at Newmarket Holidays, stated that customers are more eager than ever to “explore more destinations that are off the usual tourist trail” and thinks this is the perfect time to introduce Uzbekistan as an “incomparable destination” to the 2024-26 touring collection.

Prices for the 11-day tour lead in from £2,339 per person including four-star accommodation, guided tours, return flights from Heathrow and transfers. Departures start in October 2024 and are available through to November 2025.
