From the capital to the slopes, a choice of routes to Chambéry and Salzburg offer bumper choice for ski breaks this winter.
London City Airport has launched ski and Christmas routes to Chambéry and Salzburg, kicking off on December 9, 2022 with BA CityFlyer's route to Salzburg before the Chambéry route takes to the skies on December 17.
Chambéry Airport is less than 90 minutes away from popular ski hotspots including the Three Valleys, Megève, Chamonix, and more. Salzburg, known for being the birthplace of Mozart, is also well-celebrated for its proximity to Kitzbühel and other ski resorts.
BA CityFlyer and SWISS operate to Geneva and Zurich from London City Airport, with BA CityFlyer teaming up with Lufthansa for services to Frankfurt, as well as Prague, Dusseldorf and Berlin.
December's forecast from London City sees nearly three times as many flights departing.
Aviation director, Anne Doyere, said: “We are delighted these routes between London City Airport and the Alps are launching this December, which will provide even more choice for passengers this ski season and for the Christmas markets.”
“London City is perfectly placed for passengers to go straight from the office to the Alps for a quick ski trip this winter, as it’s possible to get from central London to your gate in around 40 minutes or from Canary Wharf to your gate in around 30 minutes. That means you could leave your London office and be in the Alps in under three hours.”
