Ahead of its winter reopening, director of sales Michelle Serra spotlighted the propertys newfound synergy with the neighbouring Margaritaville Beach Resort and revelled in the brand and local communitys excitement for the return of British Colonial Nassau.
The historic property is set to reopen this December, tying together over 100 years of Bahamian and British Colonial history under one roof. If the property's reopening weren't exciting enough, 288 newly-redesigned rooms, including 25 suites, await.
Michelle Serra, the director of sales for The Point Complex (encompassing both British Colonial Nassau and the nearby Margaritaville Beach Resort), brought excitement to WTM 2023.
"It is a very exciting time for us. Our soft opening is going ahead on December 12th, 2023, and both The Point Complex and the local community are looking forward to it.
"The reopening of British Colonial means we are creating more of a complex environment, encompassing both hotels and resorts. That brings a host of shared opportunities within both hotels, including day passes for cruise passengers to access the facilities at British Colonial along with the waterpark and amenities and the Margaritaville Resort as well – there will be a lot of great synergies."
With a dedicated UK sales team already in place, headed up by SILVA LINING's Suzy Trott, there will be opportunities galore for agents to get involved with the excitement. On their appointment as dedicated trade sales team, Suzy said: "We have lots of trade-focused initiatives planned to clearly define the property and we will certainly introduce agent educational tools such as training sessions and booking incentives to drive an understanding of the product for sales conversion."
Michelle was keen to spotlight the opportunities that await for agents, adding: "One of our key strategic objectives is tailoring our offerings specifically for the UK's booking needs. In 2024 we are set to launch an all-inclusive meal plan across British Colonial as well as Margaritaville. We are very excited about that and we are sure it will go down a treat with the British market."
The all-inclusive meal plan will guarantee guests are spoiled for choice: "We have options all the way from our outdoor pool beach bar, with local beachside tacos, to our 1920s supper club, our main point of dining. That brings back a lot of the Bahamian culture, with weekly live local jazz bands and local product and seafood on the menus.
"We have just finalised some of our concepts, including the Sakana Sushi & Noodle Bar, Burn Cigar Bar and the Woodes Rogers Tavern, our signature martini bar."
"We're working through the incentives, training and strategy for agents, the all-inclusive meal plan gets the ball rolling on that and it will be a big segment to drive overall occupancy. In addition to that the hotel boasts 18,000 square feet of magnificent meeting space, so the MICE market is going to be a key segment.
"There's going to be a market for destination weddings too, because of the aesthetically beautiful space we have on-site. Colonial Nassau has been an iconic building for well over 100 years now, and the locals are so excited to see it back open. Folks have spoken to us and said that they got married there or past generations did, so both us as British Colonial and the local community are excited to keep that tradition alive."
