Presented by G Adventures, in support of its non-profit partner Planeterra, GX will see agents, suppliers, media and travellers to gather an experience first-hand the impact community tourism can have.
GX, the multi-day mega-event, will take place from September 22nd to 28th, 2023, with each group having its own dedicated itinerary, culminating with the first World Community Tourism Summit, taking place on World Tourism Day (September 27th, 2023).
The Summit will host a line-up of speakers and entertainment.
Planeterra, G Adventures' non-profit partner, will celebrate its 20th anniversary at GX, with the operator itself recognising its belated 30th anniversary, postponed from 2020 due to the pandemic.
GX will be invitation-only, and agents have a chance to attend through the 2023 Change Makers initiative, where 65 agents who have changed lives through travel across a number of regions will be invited along.
Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures' founder, explained: "We’ve thrown lots of great parties and events in our 33 years of operation, but this will be the biggest yet. With Planeterra's 20th and our 30th anniversaries, it needs to be something special and never-done before.
"Most importantly, I’m looking forward to recognising 20 years of Planeterra, the great work that has been done, and to help raise money to continue the great work they are doing to change lives in the communities we visit."
Change Makers is live now and runs until June 30th, 2023, incentivising agents to focus on life-changing travel experiences on G Adventures trips. Agents who earn a place at Change Makers will see first-hand how their work impacts the local communities that G Adventures itineraries cover.
