Flexible Autos' early booking advice and top tips

The trade-only car hire firm has advised agents to book way in advance to ensure the best availability.

With many car hire companies selling off stock early in the pandemic and supply chain issues leading to a hire car shortage this year, Flexible Autos are advising agents to book as early as possible to guarantee availability for their customers.

Group managing director Sue Dixon said: ?The key message is to book early to guarantee prices. We are expecting car rental prices to continue to increase throughout the summer and availability will continue to be stretched. Many car rental suppliers we have spoken to are continuing to ?fleet up? for the summer, but they cannot guarantee that all the cars will arrive. Our top tips offer agents some alternative ways to sell car hire to the customer, so they can secure the sale earlier ensuring their customer?s car is booked.?

Along with advance booking, the firm offers a cancellation or amendment policy up to 48 hours prior to pickup to give agents as much flexibility as possible.

Flexible Autos' top tips for hiring a car this summer include:

Booking early to ensure availability and choice

Additional drivers: two smaller vehicles may be easier to find availability on rather than a larger vehicle

Breaking down costs to your customer: a price per person per day is more attractive and realistic when comparing to local transport/transfers and taxis, along with the flexibility of travel times and locales.

Downtown locations: if airport pickup points are struck with low availability, check the local downtown locations nearest to where the customer is saying.

Online check-in: for a smoother and quicker service, check if the supplier offers online check-in.
