El Al's inaugural flight from Tel Aviv to Las Vegas takes off

El Als inaugural flight from Tel Aviv to Las Vegas on the airlines Haifa-named Dreamliner took off this Friday.

A traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the boarding gate, with the participation of the airline's CEO Gonen Usishkin, vice president commercial and industry affairs Michael Strassburger and senior advisor to the US Ambassador to Israel Aryeh Lightstone.

With the new route, the airline will be operating nonstop flights to eight destinations in the US: New York (JFK and EWR), Toronto, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

Gonen Usishkin said: ?I am thrilled to launch the airline?s new route to Las Vegas, only one month after launching the San Francisco route and two weeks after announcing our plans to operate a nonstop route to Tokyo. Nonstop flights to Las Vegas on Fridays with returns to Israel on Saturday nights provide an attractive combination of business and pleasure. This is EL AL?s eighth destination in North America; during the summer we will inaugurate a series of flights to Orlando and next year we will launch a new route to Chicago.?

Israel Aryeh Lightstone, senior advisor to the US Ambassador, said: ?It is our hope that people flying to Las Vegas will bring with them opportunities for business and success for both of our countries and will strengthen our ties. More than anything, relations between the United States and Israel are based on people. This nonstop flight from Israel to Las Vegas, like all of EL AL?s flights to and from America, strengthens our special relations. A nonstop flight from Israel to Las Vegas is simply logical. Both places are brimming with optimism, hope and creativity. I am certain that the flights will serve to nurture the special qualities of these two special places.?

EL AL is offering a weekly flight to Las Vegas, on its new Dreamliner aircraft, with three service classes: Business, Premium and Economy. Flight Timetable: The flights will depart from Ben-Gurion airport at 07:00 and will land in Las Vegas after approximately 14 hours and 15 minutes, at 11:15 (local time Friday).
