Dutch theme park Efteling to reopen tomorrow

Fairytale theme park, Efteling will reopen its doors to public, after the coronavirus-inflicted lockdown, on May 20

Efteling has introduced a range of initiatives, that has been drawn up by industry associations Club van Elf and the Dutch Association of Zoos, and will provide clear information to visitors about following the guidelines of the RIVM (The Netherlands? National Institute for Public Health and the Environment).

Safety measures such as social distancing, introduction of hygiene stations, central disinfection points and regular cleaning of contact points like brackets and door handles, are some of the basic steps that the theme park authorities have introduced.

Employees have been instructed to use personal protective equipment if required and there are signs and markings on the ground to help with social distancing.

The first few days will be a trial for the theme park employees to test how well they have been adapting with the new protocols. Gradually, the number of visitors will be increased, so that loopholes in the new working method can be sorted out fast. Visitors will be provided with trained employees to help the guests.

Fons Jurgens CEO explains: ?We have always made sure that our guests can enjoy the park safely. It is the same now, only this time the measures are a bit different. We know how guests move in our park and how we can use this knowledge to prevent contact between guests, despite the numbers. Fortunately, we have plenty of space and we allow a limited number of guests to pre-book their visit. This way we can guarantee that everyone has the space for their day out.?
