The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR) highlighted that the country has one of the most complete and effective plans in the world to guarantee the safety of visitors and facilitate entry to the Dominican Republic, being the only country that has a tourist medical assistance plan covered 100% by the Dominican government.
As part of the security measures and protocols to take care of the health of both visitors and hotel employees, MITUR validates the operation of all hotels, airports and tourist businesses with international certifications such as Safe Travels and Bureau Veritas. Similarly, visitors have quick and unrestricted access to the country and airports and hotels have implemented protocols for the safe reception of tourists, with designated areas for the care of COVID-19 patients within hotels.
The tourist assistance plan that is activated when checking-in at the hotel until December 31, 2020, provides complete attention to the visitor with coverage of medical emergencies in case of COVID-19, outpatient visits, hospitalisations and medicines; prolonged stays due to medical emergencies; specialist care; medicines in case of hospitalisations, a wide variety of health centres throughout the country; transportation in case of emergency; hospital expenses and cost of penalties for flight changes.
