Cunard postpones all sailings indefinitely

Luxury cruise line Cunard has announced that it will postpone all its sailings up to and including November 23, indefinitely. Operations will resume only after the approval and accreditation of trusted authorities on the safety of travel

Consequently, all bookings of sailings, departures and arrivals, remain cancelled, including the ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria?s scheduled trip on November 1 and Queen Elizabeth?s departure on November 23.

Simon Palethorpe, Cunard president said, ?With so many different restrictions across the countries, people?s ability to move freely and safely across borders remains seemingly distant. For Cunard, where we celebrate having a truly international mix of guests, this becomes particularly impactful. We also need to understand the implications of COVID-19 better. We are therefore working with government bodies such as the US Centers for Disease Control, Prevention, Public Health England, and the industry collective body, CLIA, apart from other experts and medical professionals, to review every aspect of taking a tour with us.?

?At present, we are looking at enhanced protocols across all aspects of ship life and experiences on shore. We will only return to service, once when we have a comprehensive restart protocol with the stamps of approval from the most trusted and informed sources,? he added.

Cunard will be communicating with all guests, and their travel agents, who have already booked trips on affected voyages. Guests who have bookings on cancelled voyages will be given a future cruise credit of 125% which can be redeemed against any new booking made, till December-end 2021, on any voyage that is on sale at the time of booking.
