Cool for the summer: Finnair extends Arctic Circle offering

The airline is helping travellers escape the heat this summer with additional services to the Arctic Circle during the peak season.

The ‘Artic Circle Express’ service that launched in December last year put Finnair in a leading position for services to Lapland, and that momentum is set to continue into the summer period.

From June to September 2024, Finnair is providing extra capacity to Finland, Norway and Sweden, with Bodø, one of Europe’s Capitals of Culture, returning to the airline’s route map after a successful launch last summer.

Flights to Bodø will operate five times weekly between June 17th and August 2nd, 2024, and will boost its popular Helsinki to Trondheim service to 10 times per week. Over in Sweden, summer flights will be available to the medieval city of Visby five times per week, and in Finland, services will be added to Ivalo, Kittilä and Kuusamo from Helsinki.

Anssi Partanen, market director for Europe, has said that the “demand for travel within the Arctic Circle continues to grow” and he thinks this bolstered summer offering will prove to be vastly popular with travellers from Europe, Asia and the US “who are looking to escape the heart and looking for exciting new experiences.”

This expansion builds on Finnair’s existing summer schedule which has increased services to destinations in the US and Asia.
