Cardiff Airport reports strong summer showing

Alicante, Málaga and Amsterdam have proven the most popular destinations with guests flying from the Welsh airport

Spencer Birns, CEO of Cardiff Wales Airport, said, "From January to the end of July, passenger numbers have grown by 8%, compared to 2023.

"This year, we’ve also celebrated some great milestones with partners like Balkan Holidays, which started popular direct flights to Bulgaria 45 years ago from Cardiff Wales Airport."

Majorca, Dublin, Tenerife, Belfast, Dalaman, Antalya and the Algarve comprised the remainder of the top 10 most-flown destinations from the airport, reflecting impressive short-haul international demand.

TUI has responded to such demand with 12,000 additional seats on sale this year, with Vueling expanding Málaga services throughout September and October and Ryanair confirming it is continuing its Tenerife services throughout the winter.

Later this summer, PLAY will take off from Cardiff in October, with two weekly flights to Keflavik for six weeks.
