Althams Travel and Kirkham Travel give us their thoughts at #TravelDayOfAction

As frustrations within the travel industry grow, #TravelDayOfAction brought operators, agents and specialists from all sectors of the industry together for a united day of action.

At #TravelDayOfAction, we caught up a few representatives from Altham Travels and Kirkham Travel to hear why they felt the need to #SpeakUpForTravel .

With their #SaveTravel banner in-hand, Nicky Lynn, manager at Althams, explained: "We just want the government to hear us, we want them to know we need support. We thought we'd come forward and demand more support from ABTA, as well."

"I hope the Government sees the need to open more destinations up, so we have something to sell. At the moment, the green list is a joke. We've got clients that have booked, cancelled, booked, cancelled... they're begging to spend money. They're starting to lose confidence- people want to get away."

Joining with a coach load of agents from the North-West, Carol from Kirkham Travel, explained: "We've come to show the Government that we need help to survive. We'd like sector-specific support and extension of furlough. We've been here trying to save our industry."

"We're hoping the Government wakes up and says to us that we can travel safely. Most of the population has had single or double doses of the vaccine, and we're in a worse situation than we were 12 months ago."
