a&o Hostels has unveiled its action plan to safeguard the health of its visitors post-lockdown
The measures are a follow up to those implemented earlier, in March, such as the installation of Plexiglas protective shields which separate guests from hostel staff at the reception area and the introduction of hand sanitiser stations in the most visited areas.
The hostel group will also introduce a new set of social distancing measures for hygiene purposes.
There will be a hygiene officer to answer guest?s queries, and face masks will be compulsory for all hostel staff.
Contactless tap and open doors in public areas will reduce the risk of contamination through touching metal surfaces.
The dining area will have chairs, kept at a distance of 1.5 metres, with different slots at breakfast time, to limit the number of people sharing the space.
Additionally, the rooms will be filled to 50% of its original capacity, allowing a maximum of four people per room, whether through same or separate bookings.
Oliver Winter, CEO at a&o Hostels says, ?We want to assure our future guests that we are taking proactive steps to ensure their safety and to re-instate confidence when they have started travelling again. We pride ourselves in providing communal environments for people to meet and connect with each other; however we understand that we must adapt to the new normal now. That is why we are introducing social distancing measures that will enable maximum safety. We have hostels in Berlin, Venice, Amsterdam, Budapest and Copenhagen and we want to encourage tourists to explore these wonderful places in a way that will coincide with the shift in mindset of the post-pandemic traveller."
