WTM news: Let Big Bus Tours be your guide

The best way to see a city is with a tour guide and no-one knows that better than Big Bus Tours.

While the open-top bus operator looks at including 50 new destinations, it has also become the biggest recruiter of live tour guides.

From New York to Berlin and London, the Big Bus Tours now has 400 tour guides, who can tell you where to eat and show you hidden gems.

To enhance the customer experience, the company is also improving technology using AI and self-scan to speed up the boarding process.

Omid Golshan executive vice president of the bus operator said that customers ?are not looking for just a ticket that gives you hop on hop off - they looking at a gateway for discovering a city.?

He said: ?It?s all about opening up the hidden treasures of the city. That?s what customers look for. How do I feel a city the way a local would but at the same time get the most out of it as a visitor would do?

?It?s the concept of discover and explore - you are able to see the sights and then get off and explore what the city has to offer.

"I?ve seen people do YMCA on a double decker in New York and I?ve also seen people clap-along and sing-along but from a technology point of view, I think the additional work we are doing is really picking up momentum.

"We are keen that customers get a good experience as far as their visit to the city is concerned.

?We now have 400 tour guides pretty much covering all of our destinations and in fact, we are the biggest recruiter of live tour guides."
