United Airlines has confirmed an expansion of its new seasonal nonstop service between Glasgow and New York Newark, increasing total seat capacity by more than 22% for Summer 2026
The route will launch on May 9th, 2026 and now operate through to October 24th, 2026, extending the season by an additional month. United will be the only US airline offering a nonstop service between Scotland and the United States, marking its return to Glasgow for the first time since October 2019.
The extended operating window gives travel agents greater flexibility to package late summer and autumn travel, particularly for city breaks, multi centre itineraries, and connecting journeys across the Americas via United’s Newark hub.
Karolien De Hertogh, Director Sales UK and Ireland, United Airlines, said, “We are pleased to see strong interest in our new upcoming service from Glasgow to New York/Newark and this significant expansion further underlines the importance of Scotland within United’s global route network . Our customers in Scotland will be able to benefit from even more time and travel options to visit New York City, as well as the possibility to connect seamlessly via our U.S. hubs to over 140 onward destinations across the Americas. We look forward to welcoming our customers on board.”
From an agent selling perspective, the route opens up attractive fly drive, USA city hop, and long haul leisure opportunities. Example packages could include a five-night New York city break from ÂŁ899 per person, based on economy return flights from Glasgow and a centrally located three-star hotel, or a New York and Florida twin centre from ÂŁ1,499 per person, combining three nights in Manhattan with onward flights to Orlando.
“We were absolutely thrilled when United Airlines announced its return to Glasgow Airport for Summer 2026 and the increased frequency before the service even starts highlights the strong appetite for connectivity between the two countries,” added Chris Tibbett, Airline Director at AGS Airports. “The return of United Airlines further strengthens Glasgow Airport’s transatlantic connectivity and is a boost for the region and the wider Scottish economy."
Flights will operate using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, offering United Premium Plus, Economy Plus, and Economy cabins. Premium Plus includes enhanced seating, an amenity kit, and upgraded soft furnishings, while Economy customers benefit from complimentary meals, drinks, and inflight entertainment.
For agents, the expanded schedule strengthens Glasgow’s long haul appeal, provides more inventory to sell during peak demand periods, and supports competitive transatlantic pricing across Summer 2026. All flights are subject to government approval and are available for sale on United.com.
