Flight Centre has launched its inaugural ‘The Long & Short of Travel Destinations’, with ten long-haul destinations agents should have on their radar for 2027
The list splits a list of destinations selling strongly now, alongside those which consultants expect to grow.
Destinations were drawn from 2026 booking data and a panel of expert travel agents.
Tanzania was most named by the consultant panel as the destination of 2027, with new BA direct flights to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar from summer 2027.
Harare’s return to Gatwick for the first time in 14 years also saw Victoria Falls’ popularity increase this year.
Joe Beevis, general manager of Flight Centre UK, said, “This is the most adventurous we have seen British travellers in years.
“They are going further, staying longer, and booking places or experiences they might not have considered five years ago.”
Bookings for San Pedro de Atacama, in Chile, were up 14% over the summer, following the addition of a daily Santiago service from March 2027 by BA, and LATAM capacity growing by 25%, earning it a spot on ‘The Long List’, with anticipated popularity.
Joining it is Brisbane, set to be a hotspot for travel following Qantas; one-stop via Singapore, and the launch of the nonstop from London to Sydney in 2027.
Other locations set to grow include islands in the South Pacific (Tonga, the Cook Islands, and Fiji), Juifen in Taiwan, and South Georgia, Antarctica, by sea.
Consultants have shared how these trips are being sold, from small-group touring for the Stans, (bookings up by an average of 22%), to self-drive for New Zealand, to South Pacific island add-ons for Australia and New Zealand itineraries and expedition cruises being booked up to two years ahead.
