The Douro Valley's finest small train journeys star in new Newmarket tour

A steam train traveling through the Douro Valley in Portugal

Hayley Morris, Newmarket Holidays' head of trade sales and partnerships, said the new eight-day tour, collating two small train journeys through the Douro Valley, "will appeal to anyone who enjoys relaxed travel, exclusive experiences, wine tastings and authentic Portuguese culture"

'Little Trains of the Douro' sends guests aboard two restored steam engines as they venture through the vineyards, hillsides and villages of the Douro Valley.

Stops en route include Pinhão, Tua and Quinta de Pachecha.

The new itinerary, which leads in from £1,559 per person with return flights from as many as 14 regional airports across the UK, joins other train-centric itineraries in the Pyrenees, Dolomites and Switzerland.

Seven departures are scheduled between June and October 2026.
