South African Tourism is launching a Discover YOUR South Africa campaign in five UK cities.
The events will be held in Kingston (September 7?9), Birmingham (September 14-16), Cardiff (September 21-23), Glasgow (September 28-30) and Manchester (October 5-7), providing prospective holidaymakers with inspirational ideas for travel in South Africa and a personalised itinerary.
Visitors will walk through a series of rooms that depict a destination's scenery, food and wine, culture, city life and wildlife highlights whilst being exposed to different visuals, sounds, smells and tasting opportunities, thereby creating an immersive experience. Based on the visceral reactions of each individual captured using EEG technology, a personalised itinerary for South Africa will be created and specialists from Trailfinders and Virgin Atlantic will be on hand to further help travellers with any itinerary ideas and bookings.
Tolene Van der Merwe, hub head of UK and Ireland for the tourism board, said: ?Discover YOUR South Africa campaign goes one step further in creating a truly sensorial form of virtual reality and we are the first Destination Marketing Organisation to use this technology as a communication tool. Given the UK market?s importance as the biggest source of international arrivals into South Africa, we wanted to give British consumers this unique chance to immerse themselves in an array of wonderful experiences and help them to design their trip-of-a-lifetime.?
