Wizz Air has seen a surge for European city breaks this September
Data from the airline shows that as the weather cools, travellers are swapping the beach for an urban escape.
Searches for Wizz Air flights to Madrid and Prague rose by 27% and 22% respectively last month compared to August.
Madrid, Prague, Belgrade, and Seville, all also saw more searches in September than both July and August.
This increased interest comes as Wizz Air prepares to expand its connections between the UK and Spain, with new services from Luton to Asturias, Granada, and Malaga, all launching from October 25th to 27th.
September gives travellers the chance to explore some of Europe’s most popular cities after peak summer crowds have eased, with cooler temperatures better suited to sightseeing.
Yvonne Moynihan, managing director at Wizz Air, said, “The end of the school summer holidays certainly doesn’t mean the end of the travel season.
“Whether it’s the culture and food of Madrid, the historic streets of Prague and Belgrade, or simply a few more days of sunshine in Seville, there are plenty of opportunities to fit in one more European escape.”
