Scenic Group has announced a partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation (ABN) to expand its Indian portfolio with two new ships
The long-term agreement comes following exceptional demand for newly launched India and Sri Lanka journeys.
Two ultra-luxury river ships are set to join Scenic’s India portfolio by 2029/30 and mark an expansion onto the Brahmaputra River.
This will bring together ABN’s 20+ years of experience, and align closely with Scenic’s global expertise in all-inclusive ultra-luxury cruising, international operations, and unique immersive experiences that connect guests with the unique destinations they visit.
Guests will have access to distinct aspects of India, shaped by dramatic landscapes, wildlife, ancient cultural traditions, and remote riverside communities all along the Brahmaputra River.
Glen Moroney, Founder & Chairman of Scenic Group, said, “India offers extraordinary potential for luxury river cruising.
“Our partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation gives us the benefit of deep local expertise and an established operating platform, while allowing Scenic to bring its international experience in luxury cruising to the market.”
Glen said that Scenic Aura marks the first step in what is expected to be a long-term commitment to India.
The new river offering will also provide a natural complement to Scenic’s upcoming inaugural 2027/28 Hooghly River programme in West Bengal, designed for just 44 guests on a boutique ship.
Ashish Phookan, Founder & Managing Director of ABN, said: “This partnership brings together our operating experience and knowledge of India’s rivers with Scenic’s global luxury cruise expertise, brand and international distribution.
“We believe it can significantly expand India’s position on the global river-cruise map.”
Guests aboard the inaugural season will experience a diverse selection of vibrant cities, sacred sights, historic palaces, artisan communities, and culturally immersive experiences.
Demand for the inaugural programme has been strong, with limited availability remaining.
