Riviera reports strong early demand for 2027 solo-exclusive ship

Riviera Travel has shared a promising update on its dedicated solo cruising strategy, revealing exceptional trade support for its upcoming world-first initiative

Following its initial announcement last year, Riviera Travel is driving significant booking momentum for its MS George Eliot solo-exclusive programme, with peak 2027 departures already showing high demand.

Set to become the world’s first fully solo-exclusive river cruise ship from mid-2027, the vessel is generating strong interest from the trade, with one of the first June 2027 departures already sold out. The continued demand presents a clear opportunity for agents to secure early bookings as availability tightens across peak travel dates.

The MS George Eliot is specifically configured for solo travellers to offer a more spacious and sociable onboard environment. The ship's model removes common barriers for solo guests by ensuring every passenger receives a double cabin for sole occupancy as standard, with no single supplement applied across any departure.

The vessel will operate a range of popular itineraries across the Rhine, Moselle, and Danube rivers.

The programme forms a key part of the operator's strategy to lead the solo travel sector, backed by strong trade performance. Internal data indicates a 51% year-on-year growth in solo bookings through trade partners, with 72% of the 2027 solo capacity for the MS George Eliot already sold via the trade.

Vicky Billing, director of trade, partnerships & loyalty UK & Ireland, commented, "With peak departures already selling quickly and a full season of sailings available, including shoulder season dates, this gives our agent partners a really strong opportunity to drive early bookings and offer something that genuinely stands out in the market."
