A Red Funnel ferry hit several yachts and ran aground off the Isle of Wight yesterday.
Citing the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Reuters reported that the incident occurred when the Red Falcon was trying to berth at Cowes Harbour in heavy fog.
The emergency services were alerted to the incident by a member of the public who dialled 999 after hearing cries of help from the harbour, however, none of the 40-60 passengers on board were hurt and the Coastguard confirmed that no one was found to be missing or in the water following an extensive rescue team search of the area.
The Red Falcon Ferry was later refloated and all passengers and vehicles discharged safely at East Cowes.
In a series of tweets from its official Twitter feed, Red Funnel said: ?The ferry involved in the grounding incident at East Cowes in dense fog this morning has been refloated and all passengers and vehicles have been safely discharged."
"We are pleased to confirm that Red Falcon sustained no damage in this morning?s incident and a normal timetable will operate tomorrow (Mon 22 Oct). We apologise again if your journey was affected today."
