Newmarket Holidays pledges conservation donation for every customer

Newmarket Holidays has partnered with the National Landscapes Association to push the expansion of its ‘Travel for Good’ sustainability programme

The UK-based escorted travel company has teamed up with the National Landscapes Association to enable the support of crucial conservation and restoration across the UK.

Newmarket has previously been working with the North Pennines National Landscape, contributing over £85,000 to its peatland restoration work.

For every customer who travels with them, Newmarket has pledges to channel a contribution directly into environmental restoration work.

Rasme Ozdemir, head of service and sustainability at Newmarket Holidays, said, “Travel has an extraordinary power to connect people with the world, and with that comes a responsibility to protect it.”

With degraded peatlands alone accounting for around 4% of the UK’s total carbon emissions, restoring them is crucial in contributing towards global climate emission goals.

Supporting peatland restoration in the North Pennines has had multiple benefits, including storing carbon, mitigating flood risk, recovering biodiversity, and improving water quality.

“Our expanded partnership with the National Landscapes Association means that for every customer who travels with us, we’re actively funding the restoration of some of the UK’s most important landscapes,” said Rasme.

Amber Lauder, senior development officer at National Landscapes Association, said, “Developing strong partnerships with corporate supporters is critical to the work we do.

“Newmarket Holidays has already played a pivotal role in helping to restore precious peatland across the North Pennines and this renewed investment means we can extend the reach and impact of that work.”

This partnership further demonstrates Newmarket’s commitment to backing its sustainability goals with tangible, action-based outcomes.
