Over 850 delegates filled the O2 Guildhall Southampton at CLIA’s annual conference last week to hear from managing director UK & Ireland Andy Harmer about the latest news in cruise

Andy took centre stage to confirm that CLIA membership has increased by 10% since May last year, with almost 4,300 agency members and 10,000 individuals now using the organisation’s resources.

CLIA’s online virtual ship tours has also been expanded, with an additional 12 vessels added to its roster this year, as well as a new complimentary ‘New to Selling Cruise Virtual Day’ on July 3rd for all cruise agent newcomers.

After a jam-packed day filled with insightful sessions, including deeper insights into the luxury and expedition cruise markets, agents could choose from six ships to visit, including Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral; P&O Cruises’ Britannia; Oceania Cruises’ Vista; Princess Cruises’ Sky Princess; MSC Cruises’ Virtuosa; and Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas.

“The cruise sector is thriving,” said Andy during the conference, “We’re thrilled to see so many agents, cruise lines and partners come together to share ideas, learn and celebrate our progress […] Our latest initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting the trade with industry-leading information and advice.”

“Whether agents are new to cruise or seasoned sellers, CLIA is here to help them grow their confidence, knowledge and bookings.”
