Love is in the (sea) air

Dancing cheek to cheek in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom; walking hand-in-hand along a moonlit promenade; sharing a boat made for two at the Pleasure Beach?s River Caves or a Cinderella carriage ride beneath the Illuminations: Blackpool has launched a new online portal for couples looking to tie the knot.

The newly-launched website includes details of licensed wedding locations, reception venues, honeymoon hotels and specialist local suppliers of photography, cakes, decorations and dresses. Blackpool?s wedding registrar team can also create bespoke ceremonies for couples where they can get married in a venue of their choice (including the beach) following a legal ceremony in a register office and then enjoy a ceremony tailored specifically to them.

Dawn Titherington, the superintendent registrar at Blackpool Council, said: ?There is nowhere like Blackpool in terms of the range of venues that will set the scene for the most memorable of wedding days. Our own Wedding Chapel is as close to the sea beach as it?s possible to get, with magnificent views of the Irish Sea on one side and the famous Blackpool Tower on the other. A number of our main attractions are licensed for wedding ceremonies meaning that couples can exchange their vows in the most unique of settings. So many people down the years have found true romance in Blackpool. Now we can give them the ultimate happy ending with a bespoke wedding experience they will never forget.?
