Celebrating National Walking Month, four new options in the Algarve, Côte d’Azur, Dolomites and Greek Islands have launched, encouraging guests to swap air-conditioned transfers for idyllic landscapes best explored on by walking.

'Walking in the Secret Algarve' strives to uncover the hidden gems of Portugal's southernmost region, based in a four-star hotel in Lagos with coastal walks, trips through the volcanic Serra de Monchique mountain range and visits to protected national parks. Prices lead in at £1,675 for the seven-night trip with departures in November.

'Walking in Crete' is an equally idyllic option departing this October, with rambles through the island's olive groves, mountains and ancient villages accompanied by a stay at the four-star Hotel Samaria and a boat trip to Skafia. Prices lead in at £2,155 per person.

All four trips, including the seven-night 'Walks & Gardens of the Côte d’Azur' from £2,195 per person and 'Walking in the Italian Dolomites' from £2,155 per person, include flights from London Gatwick, transfers, seven nights' four-star accommodation, breakfast daily and select meals.
