Intrepid Travel has reported its biggest September ever, with more than 35,000 customers travelling with the operator during the month
The surge caused an 11% year-on-year increase in revenue from trips departing in September, with significant growth in travel to the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
The most popular destination was Morocco, followed by Vietnam, and Italy, with notable growth in demand for Ecuador (+93%), Argentina (+59%), and Uzbekistan (+40%).
Intrepid is also seeing a rise in travellers seeking active and nature-based adventures, as well as growing interest from families with young children wanting to explore the world together.
James Thornton, CEO at Intrepid Travel, said, “September is always a popular month for travellers looking to enjoy the milder post-peak season temperatures across Europe, the Middle East, and Northern Africa, but this year the demand has been exceptional.
“Despite rising cost pressures and ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, travel remains a key aspiration for more and more people.”
After uncertainty around the Middle East region earlier this year, the uplift in customer numbers last month reflects a return to traveller confidence, the popularity of shoulder season travel, and continuing demand for immersive, locally-led travel experiences.
James also shared that Intrepid’s NPS score finished at 83, ahead of target, which he attributed to the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering on their promise of authentic experiences led by local leaders, amongst managing its busiest month ever.
Intrepid has launched over 80 new trips for 2027, aimed at catering to a wider range of guests, from closer-to-home options to lesser-known adventures, supporting the growing demand for its style of experience-rich travel.
