The new trip series will bring football lovers together for match day experiences while offering deeper cultural connections across Europe’s most popular sporting cities
The operator’s ‘Away Games’ series marks a first for small group travel, promising travellers premium-style trips combining the love of football with a celebration of community, culture and traditions.
Away Games will launch in some of Europe’s most legendary football destinations, including London, Manchester, Madrid and Barcelona, with more than 30 departures available for football fans. The first trips will kick off in October this year, following the release of the English football calendar.
Yves Marceau, VP of product, said, “At G Adventure, we’ve always believed travel is about human connection, and there are few communities more passionate, emotional and untied than football fans. Away Games is about much more than watching a match (...) we saw an opportunity to create something completely new in the adventure travel space, and we’re incredibly excited to bring fans together in a way only G Adventures can.”
On match day, fans will enjoy VIP club-level seating, premium lounge access, and hospitality packages. Beyond the main event, itineraries will dive deeper into sports heritage and local culture, including guided tours through legendary supporter pubs, and time to explore each city’s culinary hotspots on local food tours.
The series has been designed to make sports tourism more accessible to the wider population. According to UN Tourism, sports tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors, accounting for around 10% of global tourism, however the idea of attending a dream match overseas can feel out of reach for many. G Adventures is aiming to bridge that gap and offer a seamless experience from arrival to the final whistle.
