Railbookers has launched two new itineraries in Sri Lanka to expand its worldwide collection of independent rail holidays
The destination is becoming increasingly popular amongst UK travellers, with its combination of culture, wildlife, natural beauty and year-round warmth.
‘Highlights of Sri Lanka’ and ‘The Best of Sri Lanka’ are set to showcase the island’s remarkable diversity, covering cities, temples, jungles, beaches, and more.
The nine-day ‘Highlights of Sri Lanka’ takes guests from Colombo to Galle, with two-night stays across Colombo, Kandy, Ella, and Galle, and includes private sightseeing tours of Colombo and Kandy, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a tea plantation and factory near Ella, and a private walking tour of the historic Galle Fort.
On the other hand, ‘The Best of Sri Lanka’ is a more extensive 13-day exploration, visiting Negombo Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella, Yala, Galle and Colombo. Highlights include Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the ancient Dambulla Cave Temples, a wild safari in Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, two game drives in Yala National Park, and time along the Indian Ocean coast.
Both tours feature a railway journey from Kandy to Ella, which is widely recognised as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.
Gareth Jones, director of product development at Railbookers, said, “In a single holiday, travellers can experience ancient cultural sights, lush jungle landscapes, tea country, wildlife safaris, historic cities, and beautiful beaches.
“These new itineraries bring those experiences together, while giving our customers the flexibility and independence they expect from Railbookers.”
The new additions to Railbookers’ collection combine rail travel with handpicked hotel accommodation, private transfers and included sightseeing. Trips can be customised individually to suit each traveller.
