ELA?s speaker line-up and seminar programme announced

The Latin American Travel Association has announced its seminar programme for the Experience Latin America (ela) trade show, which takes place at the CCT Venues in Canary Wharf, London from June 11-13.

The three-day exclusive B2B event will host an informative seminar programme focused on addressing the key issues from the Latin America tourism industry. The seminars will be divided into ?Destination Spotlight? seminars, ?Discover? seminars, and new for 2018 a ?Plenary? seminar.

Seminars on June 11 and 12 will be moderated by Jeremy Skidmore, former travel news editor of The Daily Telegraph and Travel Weekly, and leading conference moderator, and media trainer; and Chris Pickard, chair of the LATA Foundation and Founding Trustee of the charity, as well as ex-chair of LATA who served on the board for 14 years. Pickard will also moderate the seminars on June 13.

Kicking off ela and new for 2018 is the by-invitation-only ?Captains of the Industry Plenary Seminar?, which will be attended by Latin American ambassadors to the UK, senior travel industry figures, selected media representatives and key influencers. The seminar will focus on the WTTC?s own theme at the 2018 Global Summit ?Our People, Our World, Our Future?, with a specific focus on tourism opportunities for Latin America. The talk will be headed up by Baroness Hooper (Honorary President of the All-Party Parliamentary British ? Latin America Group) and keynote speaker Virginia Messina, government affairs director at World Travel & Tourism Council.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will welcome Elisabeth Hakim, marketing coordinator at PromPeru; Gustavo Pinto, founder of Inverted America Travel a travel agency for responsible tourism in South America; and Veronica Sevilla, general manager at Quito Turismo to lead special presentations about Peru, Brazil and Quito respectively.

Confirmed speakers for the Emergence of the sharing economy and its impact on tourism seminar taking place on Monday afternoon include Guy Stone, CEO of global research agency Explain the Market; Ben Ross, deputy head of travel at The Telegraph Group; and Adrian Phillips, managing director at Bradt Travel Guides.

The final seminar on Monday is entitled ?Shaping the Future: What?s next??. The morning of the second day of ela welcomes Paul Dow, travel blogger and founder of Trav Monkey; Terry Lee, co-founder of influencer and digital agency Captivate; and Alex Outhwaite, travel TV presenter and digital influencer, for the Like, Share, Post! Rethinking the Social Media revolution for profit seminar.

Speaking at the first seminar on Tuesday afternoon, which is focused on eco-tourism, is Jo Ruxton, co-founder of the Plastic Oceans Foundation and eco expert; Trudi Pearce, partner at Travel PR and marketing agency Brighter Group, and founder of Responsible Tourism Consulting; and Nick Grant, award-winning designer, author and academic in the fields of social and sustainable design.

Joining the discussion panel for the Content Marketing: Tips and Tricks seminar on Wednesday afternoon is Frank Orman, an expert in online marketing in the travel industry and founder of LeadGeneratorsDigital; Lloyd Knowlton, co-founder of KPS Digital Marketing; Sarah Lee, co-founder of Captivate - an award-winning agency of digital storytellers.

Closing the ela seminar programme is Holly Budge, British adventurer and conservationist; Trudi Pearce and Vicky Smith, from Earth Changers; a leading sustainable travel tour operator; who will come together to discuss Pay it Forward: Sustainable, Responsible, Ethical footprints.
