A new hybrid river ship is coming to the Douro in 2028 as Amadeus River Cruises readies for its debut in one of Europe’s most popular waterways

Scheduled to set sail between March and November 2028, Amadeus Douro has been purpose-built to navigate the meandering passages of the famous river, while offering guests an intimate and refined experience they have come to associate with the brand.

The ship will also house innovative hybrid propulsion technology to help limit its environmental footprint.

“We are delighted to bring the Amadeus experience to the Douro, one of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich regions,” said head of sales Corina Lueftner.

“The Douro Valley has become an increasingly popular destination, and with Amadeus Douro, we are excited to offer our partners and guests a truly immersive way to explore its extraordinary scenery, wine heritage and historic towns.”

Amadeus Douro will accommodate up to 111 guests across 54 staterooms and two suites while whisking them away on carefully curated itineraries from Porto.
