Air Zimbabwe has resumed services between the UK and Harare after more than 15 years
The new flights will operate three times weekly, going direct between Gatwick and the Zimbabwean capital of Harare.
Launched in late July this year, the service provides the only direct air link between the UK and Zimbabwe, reducing overall travel time by an average of six hours compared with indirect routing.
Overnight flights also operate in both directions to prove added convenience for both business and leisure passengers.
The service provides tour operators with a convenient new option for promoting Zimbabwe as a long-haul destination, offering a combination of iconic attractions and diverse experiences, from the natural spectacle of Victoria Falls and exceptional wildlife, to scenic landscapes and world-class safari opportunities.
The return of direct flights creates opportunities across a broad range of UK travel segments,
including visiting friends and relatives (VFR), corporate travel and leisure tourism.
Simba Travel has been appointed as Air Zimbabwe’s UK General Sales Agent (GSA), with longstanding UK airline executive James Harrison taking on the role of sales and marketing director for AZ in the UK.
Customers can purchase tickets through the Travelport GDS, with availability through Amadeus expected from early October.
